Hack The Future 2025 – Aquatopia Challenge

About the event

On 12 November, I had the opportunity to attend Hack The Future at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center in Antwerp. This is one of the biggest hackathons in Belgium, bringing together IT and creative students from different schools. The event is powered by De Cronos Groep and focuses on innovation, teamwork, and solving real-world technical challenges. From the start, the atmosphere was highly energetic and motivating, with students and professionals working together on different challenges.

Aquatopia Challenge

During the event, we worked on the Aquatopia challenge, which focused on an underwater world filled with hidden ecosystems and unknown life forms. The goal was to use technology and creative thinking to explore this environment and build solutions that help analyze and understand the digital ocean. Our team started by discussing the problem, breaking it down into smaller tasks, and exploring different ideas before building a solution. This approach helped us stay organized and move forward efficiently despite the complexity of the challenge.

Teamwork & experience

One of the most important aspects of the hackathon was teamwork under time pressure. We had to communicate clearly, make quick decisions, and constantly adapt our approach as new challenges appeared. This experience helped me improve my collaboration skills and taught me how valuable structured teamwork is in fast-paced technical environments.

Networking

Besides the technical work, Hack The Future was also a great networking opportunity. I had the chance to meet other students and professionals from the IT industry and learn how companies approach innovation and software development. These conversations gave me new insights into possible career paths and strengthened my interest in cybersecurity and software engineering.

Conclusion

Overall, Hack The Future 2025 was a very valuable experience for me. It combined technical learning, teamwork, and real-world problem solving in a way that is hard to experience in a classroom. I am grateful I could participate and I am looking forward to future editions to further improve my skills and challenge myself again.
